The interdisciplinary artist investigates how the body can transmit the memories inherited in the face of its own progressive muteness, a consequence of being born with no vocal cords. Before completely losing her voice, she recorded the stories about her grandfather, grandmother, and father’s death, and she reproduces this narration while performing scenic actions that elaborate the grief.
The narratives and performances divide the screen with scenes shot in different cities of Peru, on an artist’s pilgrimage that, by recovering the family’s history and its migration, brings up the legacy of a country that silences and erases. Therefore, Preludio, Ficciones del Silencio transcends the discussion about its auto fictionality.
