Several bodies meander through an apartment during a whole day, possibly giving rise to encounters and unexpected happenings: a collective that moves in our present and constantly reshapes itself.
Sem Palavras - the most recent work of companhia brasileira de teatro – focuses on the country’s outlook, as was the case in their previous works
PROJETO bRASIL and
Preto.
By means of play-acting, dances, music, and performances, the show tells the untold stories that inhabit the meandering bodies on stage. The proposal is to reinvent a language that may express or portray the fast-evolving contemporary facts. “We have come from a ruined country. We escaped. Obstination or privilege? Both. Or rather a bit of luck, above everything else”, says Viní Ventanía Xtravaganza, one of the performers in
Sem palavras.
Inspiration for this show was the notion of “chronicles of a journey” - the subtitle of the Spanish philosopher Paul B. Preciado’s book
An Apartment in Uranus. With or without words, the enacted chronicles talk about love, violence, consumerism, bodies in transition - among many other topics.
