An exclamation mark in the title concentrates on several questions raised by the play-film by Aquela Cia.: Chega de Saudade! At the same time, it is a tribute to bossa-nova that proposed a rupture with the music of the late 1950s and an exhortation to review that dream of the mid-class, white youth from the South part of Rio, after more than 50 years.

The play starts with a movie where famous songs and festive meetings of bossa-nova creation are reenacted by young black people. With these bodies' presence in front of the camera, one already sees the dissonances and questionings that are explicit in the second part. We then watch the recording of the film in a theater where, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the artists ask themselves how those young people would see this future, distant from the dream of Brazil they have sung. The third part tears, even more, the friction fabric showing a round of conversation about the artists' experiences in the creation of Chega de Saudade!

Aquela Cia.
Founded in 2005 by Pedro Kosovski and Marco André Nunes, the company investigates languages like literature and music in the theater. It created the awarded trilogy about Rio de Janeiro's memory with the shows Cara de Cavalo, Caranguejo Overdrive, and Guanabara Canibal.
